Ebale Zam Martino

Né au mauvais endroit, au mauvais moment, dans le mauvais corps ?

(Born in the Wrong Place, at the Wrong Time, in the Wrong Body?)

Based on the eponymous book by Ebale Zam Martino, this performance is a vibrant plea for the respect of difference and the right to live in dignity. The famous Cameroonian choreographer, dancer and singer has drawn inspiration from the “Mengan”, a magnificent ritual of song and dance practiced by lepers in southern Cameroon in order to transcend their pain, an aesthetic in the form of a therapeutic response to all the discrimination that runs through our societies. Accompanied by images from video artist Federico Ariu of the Artfusion non-profit organisation, by music created by Bulgarian guitarist Vladimir Kostov, and by the Burkinabe percussionist Souleymane Dankambery, the performers from various countries (Cameroon, Japan, France, Belgium, Mozambique, Argentina, Togo) have all contributed to the depth and richness of the project. The result is a breathtaking performance, whose creative process, based on intercultural dialogue, amplifies the power of the humanist message. Don’t miss it!
